Help save this world with more Eco-friendly vehicles

In the transport sector, motor cars and various other vehicles run on petroleum products like petrol, diesel, CNG etc. Due to this, they release carbon dioxide and various other types of gases and chemicals which are harmful to nature and atmosphere. These gases are known as Greenhouse gases, and they emit harmful radiant energy in an excess amount which increases the temperature of the earth’s atmosphere. Thus, all of these gases and chemicals contribute to air pollution.

To reduce or completely stop the emission of harmful gases, it is necessary to use eco-friendly vehicles. Such vehicles generally run on batteries or with a hybrid system which ensures low or zero emission of any greenhouse gas.

ECO FRIENDLY VEHICLES & INDIA

As electric cars, full or hybrid, are too much expensive in the perspective of Indian economy. Electric Rickshaws or E-Rickshaws have become very much popular in the public transport sector in India since 2011. In March 2015, the Government of India has finally legalized the use of E-Rickshaws.

In India, extreme uses of E-Rickshaws in Bihar have compelled the administration to take steps to legalize these vehicles. Nowadays, these vehicles have reached almost each and every corner of Bihar and many unemployed youths are earning their livelihood by ferrying commuters.

EFFECTS OF E-RICKSHAW IN BIHAR & OTHER BENEFITS

Patna, the capital of Bihar, has experienced harmful effects of pollution due to traditional auto rickshaws. These vehicles not only run on petrol, but many drivers mix cheaper kerosene and contaminated diesel run them.

Fortunately, in the year 2018, the number of battery operated rickshaws or E-Rickshaws in Bihar outnumbered auto rickshaws. The city of Patna has experienced 100% growth in the number of new E-Rickshaw registrations. Now, approximately 3500 E-rickshaws are plying on roads, compared to 2,200 in the year 2017.

To facilitate the unemployed youths, the fee to register an E-rickshaw is kept 50% less than the registration fee of any other public transport. The routes for running E-Rickshaws are decided by the local district magistrates.
Since 2015, in almost all cities and small towns of the states like Bihar, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, West Bengal and Orissa, permits have been issued to lakhs of E-rickshaws. Commuters can now enjoy eco-friendly and highly affordable rides.
